The South West Slopes Zone Training Team coordinate most of the formal training provided for RFS members in our district. The training teams is made up of local staff, District volunteer Instructors and Assessors.
The District training team analyse the training needs in their local Area and the resources available for training to implement a training program to suit the needs of its members.
The NSW Rural Fire Service is committed to developing the capability of members to ensure that you can respond effectively and safely in times of emergency. The RFS offers a wide variety of training programs to cater to the different operational and non-operational needs of the Service.
The RFS is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO #6970). Many of our courses are aligned to national units of competency and qualifications and may be recognised outside the Service. We have developed the below training bands to allow members to identify, plan and navigate their learning pathways during their time with the RFS.
Members are able to nominate for local district training courses.
Members who have fire ground management experience which are looking to improve their skills in areas of incident management at larger incidents.
Members who wish to become involved in supporting the delivery of district training.
To complete the theory sessions for some RFS courses including Bush Firefighter and First Aid.
